Category Archives: Hot-rod

With Hot-rod tag we meant all custom or classic vintage cars, trucks, pickups, mopars, muscles from US and EU. But we are aware what Hot-rod term stands for- Hot rods are typically old, classic American cars with large engines modified for linear speed. The origin of the term “hot rod” is unclear. Roadsters were the cars of choice because they were light, were easy to modify, and could be bought for a low price. The term became commonplace in the 1930s or 1940s as the name of a car that had been “hopped up” by modifying the engine in various ways to achieve higher performance.

Pripravili smo zanimiva strokovna predavanja in večer namenjen druženju in izmenjavi mnenj, zgodb, zamisli.

Vljudno vabljeni! KOTIZACIJE NI! Po zaključku sledi druženje in večerja!

1948 CHEVY PICKUP RATROD

Patina can be a hard look to pull off if you don’t start with a vehicle that has it naturally. Patina, by official definition is “a green or brown film on the surface of metals, produced by oxidation over a long period.” Gaining ground as an accepted paint finish, patina on hot rods is often imitated. Many have taken the time to paint or airbrush the look of patina because they just don’t have the decades it takes to “grow” a legit patina on their car.

Whether it is real or not, some cars just have the IT factor when they have a patina finish. The video above shows an impressive example of how the patina finish can work oh so well with a modified vehicle. Built by Knuckle Head Garage, this 1948 Chevy pickup was built with an incredible amount of detail. Lightly cleaned emblems and trim pop off the light green paint and rough rust. The very 40s-ish vibe just oozes off the truck. The interior is on the level with a license plate floor board as well as a stained and torn seat cover.

Hot Rod rally on snow track

These dudes are from Sweden and they found this horse race track, and decided it was perfect for a winter’s day cruise. It’s obvious they used special winter tires, but let’s admitt they have balls & like almost all scandinavians this guy is talented driver. You can’t see the rear view, but I’m imagining a couple of his buddies on tubes being pulled by a rope attached to the back!

Ferrari 512 M

When the Sunoco Ferrari 512 M first appeared at Daytona in 1971 it was a revelation. Manned by a dream team that included owner Roger Penske, chief mechanic John “Woody” Woodard, and drivers Mark Donohue and David Hobbs, the car combined Ferrari’s pedigree with Penske’s legendary attention to detail in everything from his crew’s uniforms to the polished wheels. Slated to run at Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans, and Watkins Glen, this 512 M was the odds-on favorite every time the Penske team rolled it onto the starting grid.

In a historic run of bum luck, however, the car never won a single race….
